THE PRIVATE RESERVE - Gili Lankanfushi
The Private Reserve of Gili Lankanfushi it's the world's largest lake villa, a cottage on the water, cut off from the world, a true experience for those on a budget unlimited when I go on vacation. Although I think that the best experience you can have there is when you stay for a week, with your family, I don't think the opportunity of one who , or to spend a night there with the loved one - if he is free, of course - should not be ignored. Just as the idea of a video or other footage that needs a jw-dropping location should not be ignored either. All in all, I'm sure the Gili crew would love to handle such a moment: an anniversary, a marriage proposal or other special moments in the lives of those who cross their threshold - please, the pontoon . If you are planning something, click here to "help" you with the ring. *wink*
From the first moments when I stepped on the deck or "welcome deck" at The Private Reserve I felt a sense of freedom. Maybe it was because the villa was in the middle of the ocean, about three football fields away from any other neighbors? Maybe it was because the floor I was walking on with my chunky Balenciaga sneakers was made of plexiglass, so I could see the bright water and the fish below us that seemed to have made a "nest" there. The entrance was actually a kind of reception hall, a generous room decorated in the specific style Gili , as if detached from Robinson Crusoe, but minimalistic and lush. Natural materials, glass and lots and lots of space. The entrance then opens to a huge living room, in the middle of which is a net over the water. Beneath the net, a school of thin, long, silvery fish floated in the water. I told you they made a nest.
The living room continues left and right with two corridors leading to the two main wings. It's like a castle on water. Further on, a large round table, towards the natural pool, or the "outdoor" area where you could dine with the whole family (a large one, of course. "This place is perfect for a party after the wedding" - I say to Carmen who is already filming on insta stories and explaining on the fly what we're doing there. We're here to film part of our campaign for INFSD - the #INFSDneons2019 video is going to be cooler than I thought - I say to myself as I put my luggage down full of bathing suits and photo lenses. I cross the deck to my right - the natural pool. To the right, a kind of hanging bed for a sunbathing session. Then again the same nets you can jump on you can relax. For there was nothing around until Athiph connected to the music system. How could it not have a built-in music system? the south end of the villa, with an infinity pool where you can only see the ocean and that's about it. How much is a night here? from $12,000 upwards, as I understand it, it depends on the season.
Maybe words are not enough to explain the beauty, the luxury, the peace, the excitement, the feeling of the moment. But the pictures can definitely tell you more, and the video even more. We filmed there for a good few hours, after which we somehow regretted that we could not stay overnight (we had to move to another resort) in our boat. And then I thought about the options. You come here, You want to have dinner. Is the taxi coming for you? I mean the boat. Or they have "room service" - also by boat. Or can they cook for you at the villa? Well, no, because they don't have a cook... we boarded their boat, let's go back again through this gorgeous water of the Maldives, to our villa where our luggage was waiting.
In 2018 – we would learn from Instagram – much of the dream complex from Gili Lankanfushi burned in a fire. Solidarity, many of the former guests Gili they encouraged them and offered to help, as they can, in the restoration of the resort which probably for many had meant - as for us - a corner of paradise, a moment of peace, a successful family or couple vacation. It's no secret that Delia and her husband Răzvan, for example, go there whenever they have a free moment in their schedule and even have their own personalized bikes with their names engraved on them. That and not only - it shows how much Gili people care about their guests. There wasn't a moment when we didn't feel good... so we were saddened to hear that Gili had mostly burned. Carmen and I also wrote to them that we trust them and that we know that they will come back with fresh strength "in no time" - something that is slowly proving itself. As far as I know, they will soon announce a reopening date for the resort - somewhere in July this year. We will keep you updated.
Gili Lankanfushi, thanks for the coolest holiday experience, we hope we will be back soon! See our INFSD neons 2019 campaign video here:
